2K Games has appointed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently working on the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Management Shift Comes After Mixed Feedback

Brinkman assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' disappointing early showing last autumn.

Recently, 2K president David Ismailer informed team members about this strategic move through an internal memo, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a clearer direction.

The president noted that the developers is now overhauling Project Ethos with a revised focus, aiming to satisfy community desires.

A Pattern of Key Acquisitions

This announcement mirrors a similar step taken by the publisher in August, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise development group.

The community feedback from last autumn’s Project ETHOS demo was revealing. It affirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had improvements to make. It revealed the requirement for a sharper identity.

It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve advanced. You accepted the criticism to consideration and overhauled the title with a refreshed vision - one that’s positioned to achieve its potential to our audience.

The belief in this project strengthens every day. To advance the outstanding advancement you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce the new hire as the new Director of 31st Union. Following a period of discussions, Ben comes aboard us on Monday, October 20.

Ben’s leadership and background in the PVP shooter genre is considerable, having dedicated the past decade and a half producing and managing some of the most well-known titles in gaming, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, the battle royale hit.
