Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important political figure stated the vandalism left him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
